Olle ten Cate | PhD | Chair
Emeritus professor of Medical Education, University Medical Center Utrecht, the Netherlands
Olle ten Cate, PhD, is an emeritus Professor of Medical Education at University Medical Center Utrecht, the Netherlands. After medical school (MSc) and a PhD in social sciences, he served four decades at the Universities of Amsterdam and Utrecht, contributing to curriculum innovation, educational research, and faculty development in health professions education, locally, nationally and internationally. He founded and led the Center for Research and Development of Education at UMC Utrecht, was president of the Netherlands Association for Medical Education, was affiliated with the University of California, San Francisco. He published and presented widely, mentored many PhD students, and received numerous awards for his work. His interests include, among other areas, competency-based education in the health professions, in particular with the use of entrustable professional activities and entrustment decision making.
Marije Hennus | MD, PhD, MClinEd, FHEA | Secretary Treasurer
Pediatric intensivist, University Medical Center Utrecht, the Netherlands; Associate Professor of Health Professions Education, Utrecht University.
Dr Hennus combines clinical practice with research and educational leadership in HPE.
Following a PhD in translational research, she completed a Master of Clinical Education with distinction at the University of Edinburgh. She has held several educational leadership positions, including Program Director of the Utrecht Pediatric Intensive Care fellowship program, and led the national implementation of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) for Pediatric Intensive Care training in the Netherlands.
Her research focuses on workplace learning across the continuum of HPE, with particular interests in Entrustable Professional Activities, competency-based education, workplace-based assessment, entrustment decision-making, faculty development, and the translation of educational research into clinical practice. She leads multiple interdisciplinary research and innovation programs and collaborates extensively with national and international partners.
Dr. Hennus serves as reviewer and editorial contributor for leading international journals in Health Professions Education, is co-editor of the book Entrustable Professional Activities and Entrustment Decision Making and program director of the international online course ‘The Ins and Outs of EPAs’. She continues to practice as a pediatric intensivist while leading educational innovation and research at UMC Utrecht.
Reshma G. Kini, MBBS, MD in Pathology | Member
Professor of Pathology at Father Muller Medical College, Mangaluru, India
Dr. Kini is Head of the Cytology Division at Father Muller Medical College Hospital, Mangaluru, Karnataka, India. She is Fellow of the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER). She is an active member of the International Competency-Based Health Professions Education (ICBHPE) Collaborators and a member of the international faculty team for the online Course ‘Ins and Outs of Entrustable Professional Activities’. Her academic work now focuses increasingly on Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs), workplace-based assessment, faculty development, and competency-based medical education, particularly in postgraduate pathology education. She has contributed to the development and implementation of EPAs, serves as invited faculty for national and international educational programs, and is actively involved in educational research in health professions education.
Alexandre Moura | MD, MPH, PhD | Member

Alexander Mauro is a physician, medical educator, and researcher with expertise in competency-based medical education (CBME), assessment, and faculty development. He earned his medical degree from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), a Master of Public Health from Columbia University, and a PhD in Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine from UFMG. He serves as Professor at Faculdade de Saúde Santa Casa BH, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate students and leads research in health professions education. His scholarly work focuses on the design, implementation, and evaluation of competency-based curricula, workplace-based assessment, programmatic assessment, professionalism, communication skills, artificial intelligence in medical education, and the development and validation of educational assessment instruments. Dr. Moura has particular expertise in the implementation and evaluation of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs), contributing to curriculum design, assessment systems, and faculty development initiatives aligned with CBME principles. He collaborates with national and international networks in health professions education and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications on medical education, assessment, and clinical training.
Claire Touchie | MD, MHPE, FRCPC | Member
Professor of Medicine at the Centre for Innovation in Medical Education, University of Ottawa, Canada
Claire Touchie is a general internist and infectious diseases specialist at The Ottawa Hospital and a passionate medical educator at the University of Ottawa, Canada. Locally, she has held multiple leadership positions including most recently as Associate Director – Educator Development for the Centre for Innovation in Medical Education. She is involved internationally in the development and advancement of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) education, Competency-Based Medical Education and validity theory. Dr. Touchie is a founding member of the Ins and Out of EPAs: An International Course and has contributed to the textbook Entrustable Professional Activities and Entrustment Decision-Making in Health Professional Education. She supports and supervises educators in curriculum development, knowledge syntheses and assessment development.

Dujeepa D. Samarasekera | MBBS, MHPE, FAcdMEd, FAMEE, FAMM, FAMS, FRCP (Edin) | Chair
Professor, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Senior Director of the Centre for Medical Education, National University of Singapore
Dujeepa D. Samarasekera is an internationally recognised leader in health professions education, with more than two decades of distinguished academic, governance and public service. He is Head of the Centre for Medical Education at the School of Medicine, National University of Singapore and Adjunct Professor in Medical Education at Griffith University, Australia.
He has led major advances in faculty development, curriculum reform, quality assurance and examination governance across undergraduate, postgraduate medicine and other health professional programmes. As a member of Singapore’s Ministry of Health Medical School Review Committee, he contributes to national accreditation and continual improvement of medical education.
His senior leadership includes serving as President of the Western Pacific Association of Medical Education, membership on the AMEE Board of Governors and current governance roles with the Asia Pacific Medical Education Network and the Board of Trustees of the American University of the Caribbean. He is founding President of the College of Clinician Educators, Academy of Medicine, Singapore and the only medical educationalist admitted to both the Academies of Medicine in Singapore and Malaysia. A prolific scholar and Editor-in-Chief of the Asia Pacific Medical Education Journal, he has published in leading journals including The Lancet, Academic Medicine, Medical Teacher, and Medical Education. His contributions have been recognized with the Public Administration Medal conferred by the President of Singapore, the Mochtar Riady Pinnacle Award for Excellence and multiple NUS Medicine leadership awards.
Berent Prakken | MD PhD | Member
Executive director of CHARM-EU for Utrecht University and CSO of the Eureka Institute for Translational Medicine
Berent Prakken was, until 2025, vice Dean for Education of the faculty of medicine of Utrecht University, and director of the education center of the Utrecht Medical Center Utrecht, the Netherlands, being an emeritus professor of immunology and pediatrics at UMCU. Currently he is executive director for the University of Utrecht for CARM-EU, an alliance of nine European Universities. Before becoming vice-dean Prakken has set up a translational research lab focusing on regulation of inflammation and biomarker development in human inflammatory diseases. He has published widely and has supervised over 50 PhD students. He and his group received numerous national and international awards and grants.
Berent Prakken is one of the founders and current board member of the Eureka Institute for Translational Medicine. He has served, among others, as President of the European Pediatric Rheumatology Society, as Chair of the standing committee of pediatric rheumatology in EULAR (European League against Rheumatism), and as EULAR executive member. He coordinated EUTRAIN, a research and training Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) focused on translational research in pediatric rheumatology and was partner in various other EU projects, serves in various biomedical research advisory and policy boards and was, until 2015, a member of the Dutch National Health Council (‘Gezondheidsraad’).
Berent Prakken’s personal commitment is to enhance collaborations, training and education. Unconventional thinking and crossing traditional boundaries inspired him and his co-founders to set up the Eureka Institute for Translational Medicine.
John J. Norcini | Ph.D. | Member
Research Professor, SUNY Upstate Medical University, New York, USA; Fellow, Presence (a Center at Stanford Medical School); President Emeritus of FAIMER
John Norcini, PhD, is a Research Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Upstate Medical University, a Fellow of Presence, a center at Stanford Medical School, and President Emeritus of the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER®). FAIMER operated an active research program in international health professions education and physician migration, supported global fellowship programs for faculty from health professions schools, and maintained databases of recognized medical schools worldwide. Before joining FAIMER, Dr. Norcini held several positions at the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has authored more than 200 publications, lectured and taught in more than 45 countries, and serves on the editorial boards of several peer-reviewed journals. He is an honorary Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners (UK) and the Academy of Medical Educators, and has received numerous awards, including the Karolinska Prize for Research in Medical Education and the Hubbard Award.

Roberta Inés Ladenheim is an Argentine physician specialized in Internal Medicine and a health professions educator. In Argentina, she has held leadership positions at universities and the Ministry of Health, contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate health professions education, residency training, and accreditation. At Hospital Italiano University, Buenos Aires, she served as Director of Postgraduate Education, later as Vice Rector, and currently as Advisor to the Rectorate. At the Argentine Ministry of Health, she held national leadership responsibilities related to residency training and the accreditation of residency programs. Her work has expanded across Latin America through collaborations with PAHO/WHO, universities, ministries of health, and international organizations, supporting educational transformation, competency-based education, and health workforce development. She has contributed to international publications on competency-based education and Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs). She is committed to building collaborative networks that advance health professions education across diverse contexts.
