Quality educational resources
The HPE Entrust Foundation is committed to making high-quality educational resources freely available to the international health professions education community. Many other sources exist. The Foundation collaborates with others, such as the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, to provide the best information related to CBE and EPAs.
EPA textbook
The most comprehensive resource related to EPAs to date is the 2024 textbook, collectively written with 50 experts in the field: ten Cate O, Burch VC, Chen HC, Chou FC, Hennus MP. (Eds). 2024. Entrustable Professional Activities and Entrustment Decision-Making in Health Professions Education. London: Ubiquity Press, 2024. DOI: https://doi.org/10.5334/bdc. The book can be bought as a hard copy paperback, but is also available open access, both in full and chapter by chapter. It can be retrieved from the Ubiquity Publisher’s website.
EPA Bibliography
Since 2022, a database is being maintained to include all EPA related publications listed on PubMed that appeared since 2005. This database, sorted in more than 100 categories, was made to serve scholars, to find relevant publications in their topics, specialties or professions of interest. It may also be used to find colleagues around the globe working in your domain of interest.

EQual Rubric tool
Dr. David Taylor and his colleagues created useful a tool to evaluate the quality of EPA descriptions, answering the question “Is this truly a valid EPA?”. A useful tool for anyone exploring or creating EPA frameworks. Based on a study published in Academic Medicine (2017;92:S110–S117). The tool can be found in this repository. Note that the excel tool requires the pass code ‘EQual’.
